Hair Care Instructions

Please read the following instructions to make sure you prep your hair properly before any appointment!

To preserve the lifespan and keep your extensions looking fresh and amazing for as long as possible, follow the instructions below to wash your hair in a few simple steps.

Detangle - Take your extensions and align them so they all face the same direction. Bundle them together using a hair tie. Use a soft bristle brush or wide-tooth comb to brush out any knots.

Wash - Run the extensions under lukewarm water to wet the hair but avoid getting the clips wet by holding this section as you wash the lengths.

Shampoo & Condition - Shampoo the hair using sulfate & paraben-free shampoo and rinse out thoroughly. Follow the same steps using the conditioner, which will help keep the hair smooth and shiny. Leave the conditioner on for 3-5 minutes. If you plan on using the extensions for the next use, skip the conditioner completely.

Rinse - Rinse out the conditioner thoroughly using cool water (which helps close the hair cuticles and adds shine) so all the residue is out. If your extensions feel slippery after rinsing, this is a sign that there is still product left on the hair.

Dry - Gently squeeze out any excess water from root to tip using a microfiber towel to remove moisture. Never run, but instead pat the hair dry so it does not damage the texture or tangle the hair.

Additional Tip: You can let your extensions air dry on a towel or use the Hair By Shay extensions holder to hang the extensions to dry. Use Heat protectant spray to extend the lifespan and blow dry it smooth with a brush before the next use on low heat.
